Assessment and therapy for language comprehension and expression difficulties.

Developmental language disorder (DLD) is a persistent difficulty understanding and using language that is not explained by hearing loss, autism or general developmental delay. It is common but often overlooked.

Signs to watch for

  • Late talking and limited vocabulary
  • Grammatical errors and short sentences
  • Difficulty following instructions
  • At school: problems with narrative, reading comprehension and written expression

Our approach

We assess receptive and expressive language, vocabulary, grammar and narrative skills, then target sentence structure, word learning strategies, storytelling and school language, with guidance for families and teachers.
